We love a good weekend DIY project, especially when it saves money in the long run. Replacing or adding decorative door glass to your front door and changing out your door hardware are simple, easy ways to give your entryway an upgrade.
Check out six of our favorite DIY front door design projects below, and don’t forget to follow our DIY This Look board on Pinterest for more design inspiration in the future.
DIY Front Door Design: Wrought Iron
Wrought iron design has been one of our favorite trends lately. In fact, we love it so much, we made an entire Pinterest board about it. Check it out for some artisanal, old-world inspiration.
For this wrought iron design DIY, we added full view door glass and accented it with matching sidelights. For the finishing touch, we upgraded the existing hardware to something that matched the caming of the Wyngate glass. Our Yale Homestead Handleset in Textured Black did the trick and pulled the front entryway together for a complete look.
DIY Patio Door Design: Floral
Patio doors are often an overlooked part of the home when it comes to adding your own design tastes into the mix. But updating your glass and hardware can transform a drab patio into one that’s full of character and style.
With this double door DIY, we replaced the existing glass with these clean and elegant, floral door glass inserts. In addition, we chose a door hardware that matched the simple yet eye-catching design of the glass in a lever shape.

This asymmetrical DIY is perfect for homeowners looking to add some modern curb appeal to their front entryway. With a design reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, our Prairie Bevel glass and sidelight will transform your front door into the envy of your block. To complete the look, we swapped out the existing hardware for a new Yale handle set that’s as crisp and modern as the glass.
